Exploration & Production - At a Glance 2023

Objectives

Preventing and reducing our GHG emissions through innovative design

E&P is mobilizing the requisite technical expertise to prevent and reduce our Scope 1 greenhouse gas emissions (those directly linked to the Company’s operations) and our Scope 2 GHG emissions (indirect emissions from purchased energy used by TotalEnergies). This means focusing on producing the resources with the smallest carbon footprint, and on developing low-carbon infrastructure, emissions reduction projects and, if necessary, carbon capture and storage solutions to reduce E&P’s carbon impact.

We are eliminating routine flaring, improving energy efficiency and electrifying our processes at many assets, while our Energy Efficiency Boost (E2B) program is set to double our energy savings and associated emission reductions by 2025.

Curbing our methane emissions is a top priority for the Company, and to that end we have launched a campaign for detecting and quantifying emissions using the drone-mounted AUSEA (Airborne Ultralight Spectrometer for Environmental Applications) at all our operated upstream oil and gas facilities. In recognition of that commitment, TotalEnergies has been awarded Gold Standard status by the Oil & Gas Methane Partnership (OGMP 2.0).

Objectives

Help fulfill the Company’s goals of reducing our operated Scope 1+2 emissions to: 38 million tons CO2 by 2025 and 25-30 million tons CO2 by 2030

more than 40%below 2015 levels.

Achieve a 50% reduction in methane (CH4) emissions from 2020 levels by 2025, and an 80% reduction by 2030.

Achieve zero routine flaring by 2030
